THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family issues. She concentrates the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions, as well as issues involving children's welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019, assisting parties in helping to resolve their issues without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid court proceedings and litigation.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work contributed greatly to helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at the children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned far beyond her legal practice and she was active as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state area.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law - divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships as well as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the commitment to provide an individual approach to every client's needs.
