THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement issues such as step-parent adoptions and private adoptions at parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate and estate administration as well as commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their matters without need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who would like to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered abuse or neglect at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice extended beyond her legal profession as she was active as a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law - custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
