Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family-related matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate and estate administration as well as commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 and assists parties in helping them resolve their matters without needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to stay clear of court proceedings and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This proved her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases that involved child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered neglect or abuse at parent or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness regarding human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce, custody, child support and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
